Sefapane Lodge is a proud member of Birdlife South Africa.  The landscaped gardens and dams at the lodge are home to a large number of resident birdlife.

A Sefapane Bird Guide is available in your Rondavel/Safari House and guests are able to book an on-site guided Birding Exercise through Guest Services.

Some resident and migrant birds you may encounter during your stay are:

The African Jacana; Blue Waxbill, Green Wood-Hoopoe; Black-headed Oriole; African Darter; Woodland Kingfisher; Paradise Flyecatcher; Brown-hooded Kingfisher; Black-backed Puffback; Cardinal Woodpecker; Black Collared Barbet; White-bellied Sunbird and Variable Sunbird

Clear crisp Winter nights are often the best for star gazing, with the broad sweep of the Milky Way arching across the sky.

The Southern Hemisphere constellations, such as the Southern Cross, are visible most nights and can be pointed out to you by our capable staff.

Resources such as The South African Astronomical Observatory offer wonderful insights to the skies above our Sefapane world.

Guests are able to book an on-site guided Star Gazing Exercise through Guest Services.

The Kruger National Park offers professional and amateur photographers alike, a fantastic canvas of opportunities to test their skills.  When you are not out on safari with us, we invite you to fine-tune your skills in macro-, landscape- and birding photography right here on the lodge grounds.

Guests are able to book a guided Photography Excursion through Guest Services, which can be done at the Main Lodge, at Sefapane River Lodge or within the Kruger National Park and is presented by experienced wildlife photographers from Clearly Africa Guided Safaris. (Subject to availability and pre-booking. Enquire at Guest services)
